Panjabi MC's 2011 has ended on a high note after it emerged his single Moorni has been confirmed as the Official biggest selling "Bhangra" single of 2011

Dipps Bhamrah (BBC Asian Network) kicked off the brand new year by taking a look back at 2011, revealing the highest selling "Bhangra" singles across the past 12 months revealed by the Official Charts Company. LISTEN HERE

2011 was the biggest year for single sales in Official Charts history, according to new data released by one of the Official Charts Company’s parent organisations, The BPI.

“In these challenging economic times, it is extraordinary that singles sales continue to surge – all evidence of the easy access and fantastic value offered by downloads at this time,” said the Official Charts Company’s managing director Martin Talbot.

Boosted by recieving 'Best Producer & Best Single' at the Brit Asia Music Awards and the success of winning 'Best Sound Recording' at the PTC Punjabi Music Awards (India) , Moorni has enjoyed a long run in the 2011 charts thanks to the Fans and Supporters.
